November 2013 Meeting – Foot Care

For our November meeting Preena Patel and Emily Payne from the Gloucestershire Podiatry Service gave us a very interesting and informative talk on how important it is for people with diabetes to look after their feet. Their talk included which checks should be carried out at regular medical reviews, which checks can be done at home and also explained the need to wear good fitting shoes. They went on to educate us, with the aid of some not so pleasant photos, the complications that can develop when foot care is neglected. Luckily they ended by telling us how to avoid these issues and  reminded us that every person with diabetes is entitled to a free assessment review from the Podiatry Service.
