For the December meeting we held our annual Christmas party, giving all members a chance to get together, share the Christmas spirit and have a bit of fun. Also everyone attending brought a little something to eat and share thereby providing a very nice buffet for all. It must have been tasty, as it was virtually all eaten.
Norman Douse once again prepared the now traditional Christmas quiz and acted
as quiz master for the night. It was a close fought affair this year, with the team comprising Pat Douse, Michelle Douse, Bob Watford and Graham Terret running out victors. Each received a small bottle of wine for their efforts.
For something new this year, Bob Watford organised a short game of “Heads or Tails” to raise some extra funds for the Group by all those taking part “donating” a £1.00. The game consisted of participants guessing on the spin of a coin being heads or tails, to indicate their choice they either put their hand on there heads or their “rear ends” If they guessed correctly, they stayed in the game, if not then they were eliminated. The winner was the last person standing, it was obviously Pat Douse’s lucky night as she was that last person.
Finally we held the Grand(ish!) Christmas Raffle, with the “star” prize being a Christmas Hamper, which was kindly donated by Mike & Chris Coombs. The prizes were evenly distributed amongst those present, with several showing the Christmas spirit by not claiming a second prize when a second ticket of theirs was drawn.
The hamper was one by myself, in what after a light hearted “stewards inquiry” was deemed fair!! I would like to thank Tesco’s for donating a large box of chocolates and The Gloucester Waterways Museum for donating two Family tickets to the Museum.
The evening was a great success and I would like to thank all those who attended and in particular Norman Douse, Bob Watford and Mike & Chris Coombs for their time and effort in helping create an excellent night.
