Group to Benefit from Weight-y Challenge

Bob Watford, a group member, has arranged that the proceeds from a sponsored slim organised by the Occupational Health Department at GE Aviation in Cheltenham to come to the group. Last year’s “slim” raised £197 for The British Heart Foundation, the target for this year is to raise £300. The Committee and all members would like to thank Bob for arranging for the group to be the beneficiary of this event.

Picnic Tea Fundraiser

Pat and Norman Douse very kindly hosted a Picnic tea, as a fundraiser for the Group, at their home on Sunday 22 Aug. The event was very successful with the weather being very kind with bright sunshine and a large gathering of group members, friends and family.

Pat put on a wonderful spread of sandwiches, savouries and cakes, and of course plenty of tea, plus something a little stronger for some. The fund raising activities were organised by Michelle, Pats daughter in law & group member, and consisted of a raffle, lucky dip, guess the weight of the cake and guess how many “stone chips” were in an ornamental vase.

Every one present enjoyed the afternoon and dug deep as just over £110.00 was raised for Group funds. I would like to say, on behalf of the Group Committee, a very big thank you to Pat & Norman for volunteering and organising the Picnic tea in their home, Michelle for the raffle etc, and also to all those who attended and gave so generously.
