The Group Summer Social this year was a BBQ held at Mike & Jane Broome’s house on Sat 11 Aug. The event should have been the previous Saturday but due to this years normal summer weather!! it was postponed to the 11th. This turned out to be a good move as the day was one of the rare warm and sunny days we have had this year.

Due to the change of date, unfortunately not all who wanted to attend could, but for those who did it was a very relaxing afternoon and a chance to get to know everyone a little bit better. A small raffle was also held with Eddie Skinner, Gaye Boggon and Ritva Sivonen being the lucky winners.

A few even stayed a little longer to join Jane in watching Mo Farah win the Olympic 5000 metres race, and the whole street must have heard the loud cheers as he crossed the line! Overall it was a very successful day and we now look forward to next years Summer Social Event, whatever that may be!
