PLEASE TRY AND SUPPORT THIS EVENT, AND ENCOURAGE ANY FAMILY OR FRIENDS TO HELP AS WELL, AFTER ALL UP TO THREE HOURS IS NOT A GREAT DEAL OF TIME TO HELP THE CAUSE
Its time for the Big Collection weekend again over the weekend of the 13 & 14 June. We will again be collecting money at the Tesco’s store at St Oswald’s (or Cattle Market), on St Oswald’s Road, Gloucester. Mike Broome has again volunteered as the “Team Leader” and will be co-coordinating the collection for the group. The first thing of course is to seek volunteers to help over the weekend, so here is your chance to help try and beat our last years total and raise a significant amount of funds that Diabetes UK can use in it research into finding a cure for Diabetes, and continuing to support those with the condition, something we should all be keen to help with.
Diabetes UK have put in place a system for recruiting volunteers and for the overall administration of the event, however at this stage the main requirement is to get volunteers, therefore can you or any of your family and friends spare some time on any of the collection days?
To volunteer you can register online at Big Collection (for store No 6543, St Oswald’s Road, Gloucester) insert your post code and then follow the online instructions, or you can just let Mike know and he will confirm your registration. Registration (online or to Mike) is required for insurance purposes, if you are not registered, I’m afraid you cannot help.
I will be notified of your registration, but could I ask that you let me know when you register with the date/time volunteering so I have advance notice. The collection times, still available, I would like people to volunteer for are as follows:
13th (Sat): 9 – 12(full), 12 – 3, 3 – 6(full).
14th (Sun): 10 – 1, 1 – 4.
However if you do not wish to/cannot volunteer for those times, please let me know what you can do, any help at all will be appreciated. If you preferred session is not available, again please let me know. Also children can be brought along, you will need to enter their name when registering, but please remember three hours can be a long time for younger ones!
Ideally there should be at least three volunteers per session to allow each to take short breaks. Once registered, you can change or cancel your registration, but could I ask you only do this in unavoidable circumstances. If there are not enough volunteers for any session, I may ask if you can help out be doing an extra one.
The collection will take place under cover in the outer foyer of the store and we will have a table for diabetes and Group leaflets and chairs. I will notify all the volunteers of the exact details of the BCW nearer the time. However if you have any questions, let me know.
