For two days in June Mike helped out at the Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Groups Diabetes Awareness Events, one in Gloucester near The Cross on the 16 June and one in Cheltenham in the High Street on the 17 June.
The events were run as part of Diabetes UK’s National Diabetes Week and were aimed at raising the awareness of diabetes and also giving members of the public the opportunity to undertake a diabetes risk assessment and discuss any issues they may have.
Three people had quite serious concerns about diabetes and after having talked to the Diabetes Nurses and NHS staff present, went away feeling reassured and with a clear idea of what they should now do.
Both events were very well attended, although Gloucester not so good as Cheltenham due to heavy rain and the England v Wales Euro football match!
The events were manned in Gloucester by Diane, Kate, Sarah and David and in Cheltenham Natasha, Tim, Gail and David, all from from NHS Gloucestershire.
